Hi to all,

I'm kinda new to nessus and have an important question to which I wasn't able
yet to find a suitable answer:

I have a virtual server, which is not really my OWN server but is shared to
many clients. That means although I have a root-login for my virtual server,
some procedures do not work. For example I am not able to do syn-stealth-scans
with Nmap or OS-guessing. When I try to issue the command:

"nmap -O <ip_of_target>" or
"nmap -sS <ip_of_target>"

I get following error message:
"socket trobles in massping : Operation not permitted"

My hosting company told me that it's not possible in a vServer environment.

Therefore I am asking the experts if nessusd will work without errors or
problems in my vserver environment. Can someone tell me how nessus works and if
this restriction on my vserver will affect negative nessusd?

Hope someone can help.

Thank you.
