I've used both. While performance is definitely one issue, you'll also find benefits based on the flexibility the linux platform provides you, in my opinion. For instance, the nbe files created in Linux just don't seem to be present in the Windows version: it's straight to XML. Linux just seems to give you a few more options along those lines.
