Can you verify the date in plugin_feed_info.inc? Which version of Nessus are you using? If 2.x, can you remove the ".desc" directory under the plugins directory and restart the server? If the problem still occurs, send me privately a trace of the nessusd process handling the client connection when you're running update-nessusrc.
