Just as caution I have taken down a few of our mainframe apps using nessus (using safe plug-ins) I can't tell you exactly what was going on becasuse were working our issue, but is possible with the configuration. My suggestion would be t watch the process and network traffic on the mainframe while your doing your scan to make sure you don't take it down and that it is stable during the scan.
