We've been recommending for a while to provide Nessus with domain
credentials to perform the scans, as checking for a file version on
disk is way more reliable than checking through the registry.
So domain admin credentials SHOULD be configured in Nessus to perform
a full patch audit (but you don't need to be a domain admin to run
Nessus).
