Hi List,

I am running nessus v3.2.0 on Windows XP.

For my private testing, I would like to modify some nasl scripts (and later
write my own).

To start with, I modified a script (sql_injection.nasl). The only change i
did was change a string in the report message. For this I just edited the
file and changed it.

The problem is that when I run the nessus client and the sql_injection
succeeds, I still get the old message and not the new one which I put in.

I have tried restarting the client and server and also rebooting my Windows
XP machine. Even after that, the changes are not applied.

It makes me wonder if I need to do any thing else before nessus recognizes
the modifications. Does it use the cached code of the nasl script from
somewhere which I need to flush? Do I have to modify any xml or compile
something before the changes take effect? If I am not modifying the name of
the nasl script file I guess plugins.xml etc does not need to be changed ?

I also tried writing my own nasl script with a new id etc, and put it in the
plugins/scripts directory but it does not show up in the nessus client.

I have tried searching the archives and the web but most of the advice is
for *nix, I cant find much for windows.

Any pointers are much appreciated,

Shavian.
