Non-local hard drives are not indexed/scanned by the remote file content
audits, just the local drives.

Yes, but its not nearly as popular as the configuration audits like CIS
and FDCC. I think this feature has been popular with consultants in
particular. MSPs don't use it that much because the audit takes longer
than a typical patch audit or config audit. IT folks sometimes already
know which systems have interesting data on them, so they don't think
to try and audit like this in the first place.

Also, most SAN companies (EMC, ComVault, .etc) have very good software to
search documents for many types of data.
