I found some advice about using a script called update-nessusrc
but that is failing

I guess this is an old page:

http://www.tifaware.com/perl/update-nessusrc/

I was trying to take the advice to do a command that updated
the nessusrc to make the script scan the dangerous ports as follows:

[19:11 [EMAIL PROTECTED]/stan]./update-nessusrc.pl -c
"attack,infos,mixed,scanner,se
ttings,denial,destructive_attack,kill_host" ~/.nessusrc
*** You must set $nessusd_host! ***
  at ./update-nessusrc.pl line 335

but as you can see, this particular script that I downloaded is
not working.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to give me the time of day.
