We consider it stable. I've spoken with a few customers that had crash issues caused by an earlier version of the remote check. Upgrading to the most recent release resulted in a reliable, accurate and non-destructive remote test. Many of these organizations had manual plugin update processes and they were not running the latest versions of the plugins.
