Hi Mike

These are great news. I always thought that fink installs proper versions of Python (and modules). But we had a person in the lab who got into a big version mess in her Mac when installing Python using fink or manually.

Just let me know if there will be any issues.

Cheers
Michael

Hi Michael
I finally got nessy to work. A lot of the problems originated from different pythons (i.e. sourceforge vs the fink installations) and the fact the fink does not have a wxpymol compatible with your nessy (a much earlier version). So after spending a day trying to go the fink route, I ended up installing numpy, scipy, matplotlib and wxpython from sourceforge and that at least starts the gui interface. if I come across problems I'll let you know.
All the best
Mike

Another way is to run Ubuntu in a Virtual Box (http://www.virtualbox.org/). It will slow down your analysis, but is is very simple to get NESSY running (see command on download page).

Unfortunately I have come across a problem trying to install python-wxgtk2.8, or matlibplot, somegrapics library called cairo seems to be casuing me a big headache at the moment.. I'll sleep on it unless you have any ideas.

Yes, NESSY is not officially released yet. At the moment, the manuscript is under review. Once it will be accepted, I will compile and upload NESSY-binaries for all systems.

Nevertheless, the source code is already available. To get NESSY running using the source code, you need to install Python, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib and wx.Python (see http://home.gna.org/nessy/download.html). The easiest way to get the source code is to install Subversion (http://subversion.apache.org/).

All those packages should be available on Mac using Fink (http://www.finkproject.org/). I am not familiar with mac, but I think it is straight forward (eg. something like '$ fink install matplotlib' in a terminal).

If you have Subversion installed (http://pdb.finkproject.org/pdb/package.php/svn), you can download NESSY using:

$ svn co svn://svn.gna.org/svn/nessy/nessy

If you wish, I can send you the source code in a private mail, but you still have to install Python and all the required components.

I also suggest to subscribe to the NESSY users mailing list (https://gna.org/mail/?group=nessy) to get further infos about NESSY or send bug reports.

If you have further questions, just let me know. If you use NESSY, please cite our (hopefully) accepted paper.

Cheers
Michael

Hello There
I came across NESSY during my searches for analysis of relaxation dispersion data. I noticed that it was not possible to download the programme, I figure it has not been published yet, is it possible to get a copy of the software for the mac? Or do I need to wait until the related publication ahs been accepted.
Cheers
MIke
