I searched the bug database to ensure that this request had not come up before, and found nothing. I took the liberty of filling the following JIRA to track the enhancement request. "Support retrieving the system's name service configuration” https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8211216 If the above enhancement were available, then it would be a suitable replacement for any code accessing sun.net.dns.- ResolverConfiguration directly. I think that this would make a good addition to the java.net package. -Chris.
