First of all, thanks to everyone who responded. Below is a
summary of suggestions on plagiarism sites.

1. http://www.plagiserve.com There is no fee, but you do have to
register for a password.

2. the advanced search in Alta Vista You need to find a
unique phrase and put it in quotes.

3. google.com This got the most responses. Again, put the
suspected sentence/phrase in quotes. (success stories on this one)

4. turnitin.com This is fee based, but you CAN get a free
trial subscription.

5. hotbot.com This is another search engine that allows
you to "check all the words."

6. http://www.tuclolib.info This is a library director's web site
with a plagiarism button that might help.

I hope this helps.

Hi all,

Just a reminder that if you're interested in learning how to get the
most out of the virtual field trips at Field Trips Site, I will be
hosting a session at TAPPED IN on Wednesday. All are welcome!

Wednesday, April 10
-------------------------------------------------------------
* Virtual Field Trips at www.field-trips.org
4:00-5:00pm PDT/7:00-8:00pm EDT

If you have an interest in using virtual field trips in your classroom,
come explore these trips on hurricanes, dinosaurs, Shakespeare, poetry,
flight, endangered species and more. The trip interface is simple to use
for both teachers and students. Trips are designed for safe and focused
use of the internet and provide a great springboard for research on any
of the trip subjects. Many trips also have cross-curriculum applications.

Login at http://www.tappedin.org. If you are new to TAPPED IN, please
login 10 minutes before the ASO event is scheduled to begin. This will
allow the helpdesk volunteers to get you where you need to be.

Sincerely,
Kim

INSIDE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE: CONNECTING YOUTH TO OPPORTUNITIES IN THE NEW
ECONOMY

A new study by global management consulting firm A.T. Kearney and Joint
Venture: Silicon Valley Network finds that technology access is still a
serious issue and a necessary precondition to solving the Digital Divide.
But the study, the “2002 Workforce Study: Connecting Today’s Youth with
Tomorrow’s Technology Careers”, doesn’t stop there. The Digital Divide in
the Silicon Valley, the study finds, incorporates four components: a
workforce gap, an educational achievement gap, an interest gap, and a
technology skill and access gap. A significant finding is that providing
technology equipment to the disenfranchised is not a comprehensive answer;
rather, social networks that link our young people and citizens to the
people, businesses, and institutions of the new economy must be expanded.
