Each group will research professional career options for women in the
fields of Technology, Science, and Mathematics. Participants will practice
research and web page construction, while exploring potential career
interests.

Full Project Description:
Each group will select a topic concerning career options for women in
Science, Technology, or Mathematics. All participants will perform
research and create a web page. Research findings will be placed in the
"Network" area that will be hosted within the main project website to
share project results with everyone. All html and image files should be
sent to the project coordinators via email. Project leaders will also be
available via email and chat to provide research and technical assistance
as needed.


Objectives:
To introduce/enhance computer related skills.
To promote interest in science and technology professions.
To gain knowledge of women in the various fields of science, technology,
and mathematicsy.
To increase research knowledge and networking skills.
To work with a project related Internet site.

We plan to host all of the subject web pages that are created by each group
in the Network area of our website as a sharing experience for all project
participants.

of French troops by the Mexicans at the Battle of Puebla, Mexico, in 1862.
The French were attempting to establish a French empire in North America.

published on May 1, 1996. Garcia discusses the history behind the

Battle of Puebla, Mexico, in 1862. Garcia states that more attention is paid
to the holiday by the Latino population in California than by the Mexican
people themselves. "The Daily Aztec" is the student newspaper of San Diego

DUBLIN, Ohio – The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today awarded the Online
Computer Library Center (OCLC) a three-year, $9 million grant to build a
Web-based, public access computing portal for public libraries and other
organizations that provide open access to information. The new portal will
build on the foundation’s five-year-old U.S. Library Program, which is
providing computers with Internet access to more than 10,000 libraries
across the United States.

I was reading a recent issue of New Scientist last night, and ran across a
brief but interesting review of Oxford Reference Online. The author seems
to be of the opinion that Web resources such as this will hasten the end of
reference libraries. It ends with the line "You can almost hear the librarians weep."
