Subject: K12> GLOBAL SENSE: Free ebook on 9/11

From: "Ken Freed" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Sent: Tue, 10 Sep 2002 13:52:10 -0600

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- (10 September 2002)

Ken Freed's new ebook, Global Sense, updating Tom Paine's Common Sense,
offered free all day on 9/11 at globalsense.info to commemorate the 2001 attacks.

DENVER -- Writing "in the spirit of The Enlightenment," expressing ideas in
development for three decades, Denver-based media and politics journalist
Ken Freed has updated Tom Paine's 18th century Common Sense to voice the
global sensibility emerging in the 21st Century.

Global Sense: Practicing Personal Democracy on Homeland Earth, by Ken
Freed, updates Tom Paine's Common Sense "for the these new times of crisis
that try our souls." Closely following Paine's structure and logic, Freed
reaches original and sometimes startling conclusions about war and peace
and "our power for responsible self rule."

The chief historian at the Thomas Paine National Historical Association
called the work "accurate and faithful to Paine at every turn," adding,
"The work itself is an amazing "tour de force" of writing."

Distributed free all day on September 11th over the World Wide Web to
commemorate the tragic "9/11" attacks a year ago, this first edition of
the Global Sense ebook (universal PDF format ) is significantly revised and
shortened from the draft edition published for public comment on January
10, 2002, the 226th anniversary of Common Sense.

The 24 hours of free Global Sense downloads commence at Midnight in New
York on Sept. 11, 2002. Historically, Paine's 1776 Common Sense pamphlet
was printed in Philadelphia and distributed by horsecart to all 13
colonies, selling 120,000 copies in three months.

Anyone interested in GLOBAL SENSE may download a free copy at
http://globalsense.info on Sept. 11. After this one-day commemorative free
offer expires, the ebook will be on sale at the website.

My seventh grade class has a contest we put together and would like to
encourage as much participation as possible.

It is located at http://www.TheMathProject.com

I am trying to open up my classroom and show my students that they are
connected to the world. There will be a semi-monthly question that my
class will help write and they will then evaluate the answers we
receive and name a winner.

The contest is free. There is no advertising on our website and it is
entirely student friendly. I am doing this stricly for my students'
educational benefit. Please consider helping us out by encouraging
everyone you know to participate. We are looking for more than just
student submissions; anyone can enter!
