i've been trying to narrow this one down ... and am clearly flailing about :-S
my make of CVS-HEAD on OSX 10.3.4 is dying at:

the proposed 'fixes' in the bug report haven't worked either ...
i could swear this is a missing-include-file issue, but i'll be durned if i can track
it down.
its either obvious or subtle ... but i'd appreciate some more sets of eyes :-)
