Mike> Coders, what do you think about changing the old.old example? Mike> The patched one makes comments of the disk, exec, etc. lines, Mike> and does some nice touches (imo) on the VACM lines. I haven't actually looked at the example file under discussion, but I'd be all for updating the EXAMPLE.conf file. The current one doesn't seem to have been touched at all for at least 18 months. I'm sure there are many things that could be done better now, or new features that could usefully be illustrated. Robert> Does it look similar to what happens to a conf file if Robert> you run it through snmpconf to auto-document? Personally, I'm not particularly bothered about sticking closely to the 'snmpconf' style. I've never found this a particular useful tool [Yes, I know - I'm hardly a typical user!], and find it more confusing than a well-commented (or even poorly-commented!) example config. If the two styles can be brought into reasonable agreement, then so much the better - but I don't think consistency should be the main driving force here. Mike> I don't know, Robert. It looks more like EXAMPLE.conf, just different. Mike> I suspect you are right -- that file was probably not generated by Mike> snmpconf originally, or even recently. Yup - EXAMPLE.conf goes way way back. snmpconf is a johnny-come-lately :-) Mike> What WOULD be really cool is a library of configurations Mike> for specific uses. Agree - I'd support this idea very strongly. Care to start collecting suitable suggestions?
