I changed the subject line. That old one just won't go away..

Recalling that, and reviewing your recent announcement that '-C' forces an error if the Net-SNMP win32 software is not installed in "C:\USR",

Perhaps the "-C -c XX.conf" should be removed from the
 register{snmpd,snmptrapd}.bat files.

I have removed the -C -c XX.conf line, and updated the text to say:

****
A reboot may be required after registering as a service to allow the
Service Control Manager to read the system environment variables for
SNMPCONFPATH.
.
For information on running snmpd.exe and snmptrapd.exe as a Windows
service, see 'How to Register the Net-SNMP Agent and Trap Daemon as
Windows services' in README.win32.
****

Can we add another variable to the batch files instead of lumping them together in the %otheroption% variable? Maybe a %logoptions% variable as well. That would make setting log options easier for the end user.

Andy

BTW, 5.2 allows for a logOption token in snmptrapd.conf. I never added that token to snmpd.conf, but probably should have.. It's only in 5.2, so for 5.1.x users need to specify the text log on the command line..

Alex

I agree with Andy. a %logoption% would be nice to have in the service register scripts.

The current 'additionaloptions' can be used for any other command line options including the log file. Do we really need to separate it? I don't think there is really anything special about the log options that would require a separate variable.

The reason I divided the command and the args up in the first place was so I could say 'Registering with the following additional options' without having to include the binary path as it makes the line too long when installed in c:\Program Files\Net-SNMP for example..
