I've changed the patch to leave the NULL checks intact.
In fact, I've made sure that all uses of the returned value
of transport->f_fmtaddr check for NULL first.
I did find the additional NULL set following SNMP_FREE in snmp_agent.c
aggregious and took the shot -- Don't worry folks! SNMP_FREE will
set addr_string to NULL in the example below
SNMP_FREE (addr_string)
addr_string = NULL <-- removed this
