Is 5.2.1 the latest stable version of NET-SNMP to use at this time?
I've Tried it and it seems pretty good, but I have had a problem with the "reconfigure" when SIGHUP is received by snmptrapd. I haven't quite
determined
if behavior has changed since 5.0.9 or not, but something seems fishy
snmptrapd's SIGHUP handling got broken in 5.1 onwards. I've filed a bug report on this for the traphandle directive back then:
[1040711]: snmptrapd: SIGHUP duplicates traphandlers (repeatedly) http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=1040711&group_id=12694&atid=112694
which mentions that the "format" and "forward" directive are affected as well. My patch (attached to the bug report) that fixes this for "traphandle" has been applied to all 5.x branches and is incorporated in 5.2.1.
If you need a fix for "forward" as well, preferrably write up a patch similar to mine and submit it to SourceForge. At the very least, file a separate bug report (since mine got closed after applying the patch).
