Folks,
Having just read through April's table_data helper thread I'm back
to where I was last week wondering exactly which of the many APIs
I should be using.
I have an existing application for which I would like to embed a
subagent. There are two tables to implement for which there exist
data structures in the application. These data structures are at
the heart of the application and I don't really want to replace them.
I'd like to use a command line switch to enable SNMP functionality
anyway so moving to net-snmp based data structures for the use of
the application isn't desirable.
The two data structures are fairly simple tables. One is a small
table indexed by an unsigned char. The other is a larger table which
is indexed by four unsigned chars. I want to allow row creation and
deletion by the manager.
I had decided that table_data would give me the best mix of using
the built in handling while still keeping the data externally.
Should I be using something else instead?
>From my perspective, just picking this up now, it is unclear what
constitutes an API here let alone what is deprecated or bleading
edge.
