I've just committed the first preliminary pieces of the Hardware
Abstraction Layer, that we've both been talking about for so long.
It only covers two types of hardware (CPU and memory), and it's
only implemented for Linux-based kit - but it's a start. Have a
look at 'agent/mibgroup/hardware' on the latest CVS tree.
Is this expected to compile on Linux as-is or considered
work-in-progress-that-is-known-to-break-the-build? ;-)
Currently, 5.3 configure fails for me on Linux with:
configure: error: mib module "hardware/memory/memory_linux" requires
module "hardware/memory/memory" but hardware/memory/memory.h or
hardware/memory/memory.c could not be found in ./agent/mibgroup
