Ah, sorry, I was thinking of a different problem. What I did (and did check
in) was to add the stuff that checks for openssl before checking for aes
(systems w/out openssl installed were trying to use aes). I didn't consider
the case of openssl installed but w/out aes support.
Then I'd want Dave to check in (a variant of) his suggestion.
