-Coders,
snmpusm currently uses the contextEngineID of the agent (either probed
or specified via -E) to build the index for the usmUserTable. However,
as outlined in Bug #1333655
(http://sf.net/support/tracker.php?aid=1333655), this isn't always
appropriate, e.g. when manipulating snmptrapd's usmUserTable.
There IMHO should be a new (optional) flag/parameter to snmpusm to
specify this usmUserEngineID. If it's ommitted, things will work like
before, If it's given, it will be used as part of the index into the
usmUserTable. (Probing snmpEngineID.0 under context is another future
enhancement, but we'll still need a flag to override.)
Is there agreement so far? If so, anyone to propose the exact
name/syntax for this new flag (for 5.3+), please? I have a hard time to
come up with something good and really need your suggestions to meet the
5.3 timescale.
