Thanks Robert! I did that too, but it only lead to other errors down the path. However, I've already got passed this build problem by ONLY building what's required (for the snmptrapd in particular) instead of building the whole agent directory. So I ended up building only the libnetsnmphelpers.la and libnetsnmpagent.la, and that satisfied building the apps.
