Like the man said. Remember, that SNMP is (at least nominally) the *Simple* Network Management Protocol. One of the places where this bites is in the structure of management information. The SNMP SMI is a simplification of the capabilities of full ASN.1, which is why some SNMP experts (who shall remain nameless - <waves at David>) are very firm in their statement that SMI is not the same thing as ASN.1.
