If we're talking 5.3 now, I'd switch my vote and throw in my lot with Magnus.

Yup - that's probably a sensible way forward.
So who's going to do the work?
I did it. "--disable-agent" now works fine for me in MAIN.
Besides, "--disable-agent" causes "make test" to run the tests against
my *installed* (system default) agent which looks odd to me. Shouldn't
we just SKIP the agent tests instead? Should we do the same for *all*
programs (even snmpget etc.) utilized in the test suite?
