I've just spent the weekend setting up various O/S's on my new
laptop, and trying out the latest tarballs on a default basic
system install.
The results were as follows:
Debian Sarge 5.2.2.rc6: "make" & "make test" successful
5.3.pre4: "make" & "make test" successful
Fedora Core 4 5.2.2.rc6: "make" & "make test" successful
5.3.pre4: "make" failed
(missing RPMs: "beecrypt-devel" &
"elfutils-libelf-devel")
"make test" successful
SuSE 10 5.2.2.rc6: "make" & "make test" successful
5.3.pre4: "make" & "make test" successful
FreeBSD 6.0 5.2.2.rc6: "make" & "make test" successful
5.3.pre4: "make" & "make test" successful
NetBSD 2.1 5.2.2.rc6: "make" successful
"make test" fails:
"which" doesn't pick up expanded PATH,
so can't find 'snmpd', etc
(but tests run OK)
5.3.pre4: "make" successful
"make test" fails:
"which" doesn't pick up expanded PATH,
so can't find 'snmpd', etc
test #57 fails - both user & root
("/dev/ksyms: not configured")
OpenBSD 3.8 5.2.2.rc6: "make" failed
(duplicate #include <sys/socketvar.h>
which isn't protected against this)
"make test" successful
5.3.pre4: "make" successful
"make test" fails as user (#57)
successful as root
I've still got room to squeeze in another three or four more O/S's.
Any suggestions for suitable (freely-available, intel-based) systems?
Dave
