That's because Robert wrote the script and likes to boycott anything
that isn't gnu make...
Robert also introduced a gnu-makism into the makefiles at one point,
and if my time memory is serving me right it was near the same period.
In short: we shouldn't expect people to have gnu-make installed.
whatever nsb-make does is independent. That's a test-build
script more than a real one (used by developers mostly).
