MFD_SKIP is the right way. Are you using 5.2.x, or 5.3.pre?  I'd suggest
generating the code from 5.3.pre, as many enhancements have been made.

If you *never* have a value for an object, you can also set up valid_columns
and exclude it. See the ipSystemStats code for an example of that.
