I think that you should install net-snmp (make install) and you'll get a binary file under /usr/sbin/snmpd by default.

So that is the wierd thing, its the C distro for DENX. I crosscompile it with eldk 3.1.1 and when I try to run it, it gives me the applet not found error. Which is strange to me as its delivered with embedded linux.
here is how I run it :
# agent/snmpd -r -f -L -C --rocommunity="test 127.0.0.1" udp:1161
snmpd: applet not found
cross compiled with eldk 3.1.1
net-snmp 5.0.6
let me know if you need more info.

You are missing a lot of information... what is your target, build host specs ? Exact error message.
Also applet is referred to Java code i guess...
Please, be more concise and i'll try to help.

Hello,
I have cross-compiled net-snmp using the spec distributed from the
denx site. When I try to run /usr/sbin/snmpd it returns snmpd: applet not
found. Any ideas what this is about and how to get rid of it ?
