Thank you very much for this information. After I sent the email yesterday,
I googled it and found the selinux web site and read up on it. I checked the
config file and sure enough it is set to enforcing, so I will work on
tweaking it until my script works.

Look in /etc/selinux/config and see what it says.  If you have the
SELINUX variable set to enforcing then it could be the cause of this
problem.
