The rewrites part isn't needed on 5.3.x (just in 5.2.x).

Yep, you're right. Can you please file a bug report?

For our tables, or your own? If it's ours, please provide details so I can try
to reproduce and fix them. If in your tables, then you've likely strayed off
the intended path somewhere, and we need to figure out where you got
off-track, and what we could have done better to keep you on track.
