So.... I ran into enough conflicts I decided to do a few things to clean up the build process. But because of how things had to happen I had to update multiple branches at once or else it wouldn't work out. Things sort of snow-balled. First, the CPAN changes require new versioning, per previous discussion. That prompted me to update the version renumbering script to do a number of things we always wanted it to do (simultaneous CVS commits, handling of configure.in, etc). So, it does that now. But that required changing the Makfefile and versiontag script to remove versioning in it (technically, it could have been left, but...). Finally makerelease now renumbers things itself rather than versiontag, and also does the tagging.
Most of the changes only affect packaging, but I did apply them all without getting votes. My bad. As I said, it snowballed. I did *not* apply it to the UCD tree. If you're going to do a release using makerelease script, make *sure* you update the main tree and use the script from there (per normal instructions). -- Wes Hardaker Sparta, Inc.
