We should upgrade to the latest libtool, you're absolutely right.  If

we do that (should be yes), we'll have to have a discussion about the

right branches to apply the change to...  I'd argue for all but I'm

interested in opinions of other coders too.


Not grokking libtool, I understand my opinion is worth little water, but I'd say the "mainstream" release, i.e. 5.3 branch and later should be the focus. I argue if sites are already running 5.2, the existing version of libtool already works for them.
