OK - I've just committed a patch for the configure system, to test
this behaviour, rather than assuming a particular behaviour for
specific compilers.

This problem was also affecting the list of MIB modules to be
included, as this part of the configure script blindly used -Ux -Dx=x,
without even checking the pre-processor being used.
I've fixed that as well, with the same behaviour being used for both.

Now to get down to the original problems.....
