There is no difference in security between SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c.
To take advantage of security improvements, you need to use SNMPv3/

If you're using the Net-SNMP software, then this will almost certainly
support all three versions.    It has to be compiled specifically to omit
support for particular versions.

If you are using software (particularly agents) from some other vendor,
then you'd need to talk to them to see which version(s) they support.

The simplest way to test SNMPv2c is to try a basic
    "snmpget" or "snmpwalk" command - first as normal (using SNMPv1),
and then with the command-line option  '-v 2c' to use SNMPv2c.
That's not guaranteed to work (since it relies on suitable access control
on the agent side), but it's worth a try.

Setting up SNMPv3 is significantly more work.
