This processing is done by the routine 'netsnmp_old_api_helper' in
the file 'agent/helpers/old_api.c'

Please note that (as the name suggests) this is the old MIB API,
carried forward from the original UCD SNMP code.   It does still
work, but it's not really worth spending too much time on
understanding the internal details of this approach.  You would
do better concentrating on the newer handler-based approach.

I would also suggest that you get a feel for writing MIB modules
yourself, before starting to delve into the internals of the agent
