I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "the community manager".
I'm one of the lead developers, yes.

I'm not the project leader - that would be Wes Hardaker.
He was the one who first started work on the UCD-SNMP project
(as a fork from the earlier CMU-SNMP code) back in the mid 90s.

I was the first person to provide patches to the code, a few
months later. In as much as the project has a defined
heirarchy, that probably makes me second-in-command.
[Although "in-command" is something a misnomer
    (for both me and Wes!)]

I'm probably more visible than most of the other members
of the core development team, since many of them don't
have the time to track the mailing lists. Neither do I, but
that hasn't stopped me yet.

If you tried hanging out on the IRC list, you'd get a different
view of the active members. I tend not to be very visible there
(other than for our regular admin meetings)

> You seem to know a great deal about it.

Well, over the course of a dozen years, even a Bear of
Very Little Brain can learn enough to bluff effectively:-)

And having worked in a University for longer than that,
I've learned to ignore the question that's actually been
asked, and try to guess what the problem really is!

But yes - by now I've meddled with most of the code
at one time or another (apart from the abomination that
is MfD) - and have written or re-written large chunks
of it.
So I can usually offer advice that is vaguely relevant.
And even when I go off on a tangent, there are enough
other experts to pull me back on track again. It seem to
work fairly well - as long as I can tell when to stop fighting.

If anyone is likely to be at the Dublin IETF meeting next
month, you can buy me or Wes a beer. (Or any of the
other core development team that are going to be there)

Dave
