Hi, Dave
The reason why I ask such a question is, at first, I configure the command
createUser leelin MD5 "hellokit" DES "privpass" in the snmpd.conf in
/usr/local/share/snmp directory, after that I can use MG-SOFT mibbrowser to get
the mib node, but after I remove this command, the mibbrowser still can access
the agent. I feel very strange, so ask you that question.
Now I find, after the snmpd thread is killed, the other snmpd.conf will be
created in /var/net-snmp directory include the command: usmUser 1 3

.1.3.6.1.6.3.10.1.1.2 0x8b92a3dcf5915454aae8de10b01db4b0 .1.3.6.1.6.3.10.1.2.2

What do you think about this question, do you think is it reasonable?

Just think about it for a minute.

In order to authorise a request, the agent must check the
username and password. How can it know what the
correct password should be? Where might it get this
information?

Now answer the question for yourself.
Would things work without the 'createUser' line?

Dave
