Also, do you know where a "working" net-snmp-5.4 HPUX B.11.23 U ia64
might exist?  Perhaps I could lift one from somebody?

Compilation looks fine, so we're more or less down to: it works for me,
but doesn't work for you.
You'll have to find out why, :-)

I suggest running the agent with "-Dhost/hr_swrun", then walk the tree
you're missing.
With the help of the debug output, try to find out what's going wrong in
agent/mibgroup/host/hr_swrun.c .
