Hi all,

The engineID (trapsess -e option) is defined as an OCTET STRING.
Does this mean that it can be an hexadecimal ASCII string such as:
0x85643A5B ... so on ? Will snmpd convert the hex string to hex
binary ? I'm asking because this field is seemingly defined as 32
bytes (RFC 3411). If it is valid to have an hex ASCII string there
then I'll have to make the user interface accept up to 64 characters,
plus the '0x' prefix. So how does snmpd handles this ? Will it make a
conversion when it sees an '0x' prefix ? What will it do if there's no
such prefix ? - Thanks.

Al
