OK, if the GNU sed is what I need to resolve the issue then I'll get it. Let me 
know if you feel that is the issue. Here's the output of the grep command.

There's a good chance that you have a problem with "sed" on your Solaris 9 box.

What's the output of:

  grep '^SED' config.log

? Consider installing GNU sed, rerun "configure ... && make" and report back. 
Please also see the chapter on "sed" in README.solaris.
