What exactly do you mean by this? Can you expand on your basic assumptions, please. Given that you talk about community strings, I assume that you are not talking about SNMPv3. Are you interested in SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c ? For SNMPv2c, the authenticationError value is never actually used (see RFC 1901, section 3, last paragraph). For SNMPv1, authenticationError is not a valid response. Instead this would be mapped to a noSuchName error (see RFC 3584, section 4.4). Whether you'd get this or a timeout, depends on the exact scenario that you have in mind. More details please.
