Once "make clean" fails, the build stops. So this is also a build breakage
issue.

And it is not possible to get the build working without moving source files
around.

Personally I didn't have the time before to run MSVC tests. And this also
means that until now nobody had tried to build one of the 5.6 prereleases or
release candidates with MSVC.
