Hi Dave,

I saw your reply on Notification Filtering topic, I went through the links
posted by you

I tried all the steps given there and I am getting error while creating
FilterTable

Following is the error

[root@localhost Desktop]# snmpset -v2c -c private <machine>
snmpNotifyFilterRowStatus.\"noColdStart\".1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.1 i createAndGo
snmpNotifyFilterType.\"noColdStart\".1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.1 i excluded
Error in packet.
Reason: notWritable (That object does not support modification)
Failed object:
SNMP-NOTIFICATION-MIB::snmpNotifyFilterRowStatus."noColdStart".1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.1

Any pre-requisites for this command to pass?
Can you please tell me what am I missing?

Support for notification filtering has been in place for some time.

I believe that the main thing that is missing is some simple mechanism

for configuring this (via the snmpd.conf file). At the moment, this

has to be done via SET commands.

I can't find mention of an 'nlmConfigTable' in any of the relevant MIBs.

The closest I've come across isNOTIFICATION-LOG-MIB::nlmConfigLogTable

But that is concerned with *logging* of notifications, rather than

filtering what notifications are generated.

I believe that you currently need to set up the relevant

entries in the snmpNotifyFilterProfileTable and

snmpNotifyFilterTable using SNMP SET requests.

Details of what these need to do can probably be

found in RFC 3414

There's a brief discussion of this on the Wiki page

  http://www.net-snmp.org/wiki/index.php/SNMP_notification_processing

And an example on

  http://www.net-snmp.org/wiki/index.php/TUT:snmpd_notification_filtering

but nothing more detailed than that.

If you felt like putting together something based on

your experiences, that would be most welcome.

Dave
