Thank you for your answer, but I don't think this could be a good 
solution in my case.

Your solution could work if I could retrive all the managed variables in 
a single serial
bus access, but this is not the case.  Consider that the managed 
variables are about
200 or even more, and the protocol on the serial bus provides the 
possibility to ask
for just *some* variables (from 1 to 20).

I only see the possibility to prepare and send a single requests on the 
serial bus for
the same variables requested in the PDU.  If the number N of requested 
variables are
more than 20 (however I don't think this could be a frequent case), I 
can send N / 20
  requests on the serial bus.
