Dear all,

I seek a small clarificaition on generating traps from a master/sub-agent
architecture.

I have a two tiered implementation where master and sub-agents reside in the
same machine.

On occurence of a certain event(in my case a message received at sub-agent from
another process by means of an IPC) a trap should be sent to the registered
managers. This is an enterprise specific trap.
Is it conceptually alright for the sub-agent to send the trap directly to the
registered managers?
I have this doubt because all the managers are aware of the master agent alone
and not the sub-agents.

If it is not alright then the sub-agent has to transmit the trap information to
the master(using agentX) and the master has to form the trap PDU and also
generate the trap. Is there a mechanism in net-snmp by which the sub-agent can
send such trap information to the master so that a trap could be generated.
Please feed me some info on this. Samples would a be great help.

Thanks and regards,
Viren
