Dear All,

My smux peer is getting an error message indicating an
authentication failure from snmpd. I have configured
net-snmp with smux before building. Also, in the
snmpd.conf, a smux peer is added.
The smux peer I am trying to set up is quagga.

May be I have missed some obvious settings. Please
help me with your valuable suggestions.

The exact scenario is as follows.

I am trying to setup quagga with snmp support in
redhat linux 9 [kernel -2.4.20-8].
I have installed net-snmp(version 5.1.1) with SMUX
enabled.

While starting zebra it tries to connect to snmpd, but
shows an error
message -
        2004/06/15 07:26:26 ZEBRA: SMUX_CLOSE with reason: 5

The following debug message appears in the snmpd
console
---------------------------
refused smux peer: oid SNMPv2-MIB::snmpMIB, password
test, descr
quagga-0.96.5
trace: smux_send_close(): smux/smux.c, 824
smux: [smux_close] sending close to fd 10, reason 5
trace: smux_accept(): smux/smux.c, 598
smux: [smux_accept] peer on 10 failed authentication
--------------------------------

The configuration files look like -
1) snmpd.conf
---------------------
smuxpeer 1.3.6.1.6.3.1 test

2)zebra.conf
---------------
smux peer .1.3.6.1.6.3.1 test

I can't figure out what is wrong with these settings.
Please share your
ideas.

Thanking in advance,
Milash
