I'm making progress. I've got a com2sec/group/view/access implementation of the
default public and private communities. Now I'm trying to add an authorized user and
it's not working. My /usr/share/snmp/snmpd.conf includes:

  group admin usm admin
  view all included .1
access admin "" any priv exact all all all

and I put the following in /var/net-snmp/snmpd.conf:

  createUser admin MD5 "admin" DES

After rebooting the system where the agent runs, that line is replaced by:

  usmUser 1 3 0x800007e5803d27069f386d43b3 0x61646d696e00 0x61646d696e00 NULL
.1.3.6.1.6.3.10.1.1.2 0x16f5ea64820a7a67d637d021f185bbc8 .1.3.6.1.6.3.10.1.2.2
0x16f5ea64820a7a67d637d021f185bbc8 ""

However, I can't get it to work. When I try:

  snmpwalk -v 3 -n "" -u admin -a MD5 -A "adminpwd" -x DES -X "adminpwd" -l authPriv
theserver system

I get:

  snmpwalk: Decryption error

and

  snmpwalk -v 3 -n "" -u admin -a MD5 -A "adminpwd" -l authNoPriv ipm system

gives

  Error in packet.
Reason: authorizationError (access denied to that object)

What am I missing or doing wrong?

                            Chris
