I've got a Solaris box set up with multiple interfaces. I've written a subagent that responds to a particular part of the OID tree, but I need the subagent it to provide different information based upon the listener address(which interface the request comes in on). (Or, have snmpd "call" a different subagent based on the listener address, not the OID)
Right now I have a seperate snmpd running for each interface on the machine, listening only for that particular interface. Each snmpd is configured to use a seperate version of my subagent that supplies information specific to requests coming in on that particular listener address. snmpd(listens 10.10.10.2) ----->subagent1(OID enterprises.private.x.y.z hardcoded response for 10.10.10.2) snmpd(listens 10.10.10.3) ----->subagent2(OID enterprises.private.x.y.z hardcoded response for 10.10.10.3) snmpd(listens 10.10.10.4) ----->subagent3(OID enterprises.private.x.y.z hardcoded response for 10.10.10.4) snmpd(listens 10.10.10.5) ----->subagent4(OID enterprises.private.x.y.z hardcoded response for 10.10.10.5) This works, but it is a poor use of resources to have multiple snmpd and subagents running, not to mention the configuration file mess. I would like to use just one snmpd instance, and somehow pass the listener address that the snmp request came in on to the subagent. snmpd(listens 10.10.10.1,2,3,4,5)------>subagent(OID enterprises.private.x.y.z parses address from snmpd for paricular PDU) I've looked through the source and docs, and I don't see anything obvious. Is this something that is possible, or do I need to write an ugly hack to pass this information on to the subagent?
